Twitter starts Tweaking it’s Home Page

According to the Twitter blog, the Twitter home page is currently being ‘tweaked’.

The new design is supposed to be more dynamic and will feature, amongst other things, a set of algorithmically selected top tweets that automatically appear every few seconds.

This new page will allow people to see the value of Twitter, even without an account!

Twitter say: “All of our recent changes embrace the notion that Twitter is not just for status updates anymore. It’s a network where information is exchanged and consumed at a rapid clip every second of the day”.

What do you think of the new changes??  Let us know via the comments.

@anywhere Twitter platform coming soon

Twitter has announced its ‘@anywhere’ platform for websites, which will allow site visitors to basically ‘Tweet and follow’ from sites such as Digg, Amazon and eBay.

Twitter CEO Evan Williams explained how the new app platform would integrate Twitter into websites, so you could follow and tweet without having to actually visit Twitter itself.   As a bonus, you’ll also be able to use Twitter to sign into the site.

@anywhere will be implemented by sites including Amazon, AdAge, Bing, Citysearch, Digg, eBay, The Huffington Post, Meebo, MSNBC.com, The New York Times, Salesforce.com, Yahoo!, and last but not least, YouTube.

Twitter also said that it promises that @anywhere will be simple for site owners to implement, as rather than using APIs, site owners only need to  “drop in a few lines of JavaScript.”  Sounds easy enough!

Williams continued and said that there were “no real rules” about how site owners should use the frameworks and they were leaving it to developers to decide.  “There’s a lot that can be done with this that we can’t anticipate,” he said.

In a Twitter blog post, they said:  “Imagine being able to follow a New York Times journalist directly from her byline, tweet about a video without leaving YouTube, and discover new Twitter accounts while visiting the Yahoo home page.”

It certainly sounds intriguing.  Lets see how @anywhere peforms when it’s released soon.

Alan Davies

Hi all,

Well, got a lovely surprise this morning when I logged into Twitter. I did my usual ‘tweet’ by sending all my lovely followers a link to my Just Giving fundraising page for Tiny Lives (which you can see at the top of my blog!) and in response, Alan Davies (Better know to many people as the infamous Jonathan Creek from the BBC TV series of the same name) donated £367 to get me to my target of £500!!

How generous can you get!!!! I was uttlerly speechless to say the least! What a guy! 🙂

I’d like to send the guy a thank you letter personally, but I have no idea about how to get it to him, so I sent him a few kind messages via Twitter instead!

Anyway, if you would like to donate to help seriously ill & premature babies, you can do so by clicking the Just Giving widget at the top of the blog, or click here

That’s all for now!
