Palm Pre Plus & Pixie Plus approved for sale in Europe

Great news!!  Sources in the states are saying that both the Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are heading for the UK after both handsets won approval to be sold in Europe.

The new Palm Pre Plus has more RAM than the first Pre, and double the storage too, boasting a rather impressive 16GB compared the Pre’s 8GB.  The sliding mechanism has also been improved, so it’s much more smoother to operate.

Only a small handful of changes have been made to the Pixi Plus however, with Wi-Fi now being included.  Bonus!

Look out for more information on the arrival of Pre Plus and Pixi Plus to the UK soon!

Twitter starts Tweaking it’s Home Page

According to the Twitter blog, the Twitter home page is currently being ‘tweaked’.

The new design is supposed to be more dynamic and will feature, amongst other things, a set of algorithmically selected top tweets that automatically appear every few seconds.

This new page will allow people to see the value of Twitter, even without an account!

Twitter say: “All of our recent changes embrace the notion that Twitter is not just for status updates anymore. It’s a network where information is exchanged and consumed at a rapid clip every second of the day”.

What do you think of the new changes??  Let us know via the comments.

iTunes 9.1 has iPad/iBook support

Ok, so the latest (and possibly greatest?) version of the well-known Apple software has been prepped and finely tuned for all you iPhone/iPod geeks.

iTunes 9.1 is now packing support for iPad syncing, as well as the ability to “organize and sync books you’ve downloaded from iBooks on iPad or added to your iTunes library”.

The file size for the update is close to a hefty 100Mb…. so, put the kettle on, sit back and let it update on it’s own.  If you’ve already done it, what do you think of it so far??  Let us know via the comments.

Turn your iPhone into a desk phone

Being shown at the China Sourcing Fair in Hong Kong this April, is the Desk Phone Dock for the iPhone.  As you can see from the picture, it’ll no doubt be turning some heads during its debut at the show, as do most iPhone accessories that are being produced at the moment.

The creators of the Desk Phone Dock (Kee Utility) have said that it’s more than capable of being able to replace your old desk or IP telephone in the home or business.  More and more companies are now utilising services such as Wi-Fi in their business, in order to keep their telephone costs down.  So, why not do it with this device?

What they’re also saying is that it will sync and charge your iPhone when it’s docked and you can utilise the on-board speakerphone, which incorporates two stereo speakers for great sound quality, in case you don’t want to lift the receiver.   There’s also a large volume knob on the top of the device, which doubles up as a mute button.

You must admit, it looks intriguing!  And, although there is currently no word on pricing at the moment, we’re guessing it’s not going to be a cheap iPhone add-on…. but we’ll see soon enough!

New LinkedIn Blackberry app arrives – at last!

The LinkedIn Blackberry app is here!  It joins the iPhone app which has been floating around the screens of Apple geeks for some time now.

Produced in collaboration with RIM, the new app integrates with your handset contacts and email.

The app also gives you full access to your LinkedIn inbox, so, it lets you send and receive invitations and you read all your messages.

As RIM and LinkedIn worked together in order to develop the application, there’s an added option that lets you integrate your LinkedIn connections with your Blackberry address book contacts.

Invites and messages will show in your Blackberry inbox and you can view LinkedIn profiles from there and from within the Blackberry calendar app.

The LinkedIn Blackberry app is free and is available now via the Blackberry App Store.

To use it will you will need to set up a LinkedIn account and your Blackberry handset needs to run Blackberry OS 4.3 (or later).

We’ll review the app this week, so stay tuned for an update!

HTC Legend available from April 2nd

The awesome new Android handset, which will only be available from Vodafone initially, will hit stores on Friday 2nd April.  What’s more, it’ll be free if you sign up to a £25 a month contract.

If you pre-order the handset though, expect a short delay since it is the Easter holidays!  So, if you do choose to pre-order, expect your new baby to arrive around the 6th or 7th of April instead.

The Legend will feature a number pre-loaded applications, including Vodafone Music and MyWeb, which allows users to make customizations to their mobile web home page.

So, if you want to wrap your hands around this rather sexy new piece of Android kit, then get yourself to the Vodafone store and get your pre-order in now!

Be warned though – checking out the contract details with Vodafone and is appears that web access isn’t unlimited.   There is a limit of 500MB of data allowed per month.  Is that enough??  We’re not convinced!
